BRIEF/SOLUTION
Brief
- Overgrown garden in the Trinity area of Edinburgh.
- The client wanted a space to sit and entertain directly outside her new extension.
- She enjoys the idea of growing plants.
- The space round the house was dull and waterlogged.
Solution
- There was a lot of sandstone left over from work on the new extension. I decided to create a raised, curved border.
- The bedroom overlooked the enclosed part of the garden. We built some steps leading out to the garden.
- Quartz gravel and sandstone stepping stones cover the remainder of the enclosed space.
- We used grey sandstone paving for the two terraces.
- The ramshackle fence was replaced with a stylish but simple fence. We surrounded the shed with trellis to distract attention from it.
